For quite a while now, photography has been a preferred medium of expressing my observations of the surroundings. Another great way in which I learned to express myself is by developing a sense of fashion that is my own. A third way, which applies more in person than on this blog, is words. Today I thought I’d combine all three. This post is inspired by recent visit to Steamboat Springs, where I visited several local stores which have a unique history and are part of the town’s rich legacy. One such store is F.M Light and Sons and I was fascinated by the variety of options in this store, especially boots.
The longer I live in the West, the more fascinated I am by boots. I like the convenience of putting on a pair of boots and not worrying about the winter. I also like the myriad choices they offer.
I should add that expressing onself applies not just to individuals but also companies and towns. F.M. Light has been around for 105 years! It has a fascinating history, and the employees who work there are very proud of it. For instance, even though it has been in the same family for five generations, the store remains in the same location, and the early branding still used today is identifiable up and down the Colorado highways. I encourage you to read about their history and to visit them if you are ever in Steamboat Springs.
Stay tuned for more on Steamboat Springs.
